Clay: Lowfire paperclay, low and highfire medium to heavy grogged. Fired to
cone 04, 1 or 9. Glazes: Underglazes, stains & slips. I use clear glazes to accentuate
wet areas: eyes, ears etc. Lowfire glazes used for clothes. Method: I hand build, mainly with fat coils. Some pieces are rolled and added. Paperclay is used in conjunction with the other clays. Metal kidney, paddle, wood and clay shapers are my prefered tools. I build slowly with no supports. Textures are added to damp clay, underglazes and slips are added primarily to leather hard clay. Some pieces are multi-fired. |
